A cute flower for my beautiful puppy

I bet you are all thinking, "oh, here she goes again with that silly dog!" I can't help it though. I love her. She is so cute! hahahah I showed you the other flower I made her, here is the newest one. It was very easy and free, because I had all the supplies here.

First decide on the fabric you want to use and fold it. I picked floral (what else is new)
Then, trace 6 circles on the doubled up fabric
cut out your circles and pin them together right sides together so it is easier to sew
Sew them half way around the circle leaving an opening at the bottom big enough to flip right side in.
See how it's a little pouch?!
Sew your 6 little pouches together
decide on a middle. I picked a button, but you could use anything really.
Finally I sewed it to a piece of ribbon so it was easy to put on and take off Sadie's collar.
So pretty!

Random Picture Post, and a cute tray

Hey everyone! I am back to the regular week after a very relaxing day off! It will be a busy rest of the week though. I work 3 days, have a pedicure date, a lunch date and it's Mike's birthday/bbq on Saturday. Also Saturday in the day is Fiddleville and for as long as we lived in town, we went to gramma's for lunch and to watch the parade. I have to clean the house as well sometime in there before everyone comes for dinner. Yikes! I think I can do it though! (I hope so anyway) Here are some random pictures from around the house and a cute little project I did today.
Pretty violets, doing well. The middle plant I bought at a different time, on sale, and saved it.
Our new/lovely old kitchen table. I have to decide on material to cover the seats!
Pretty jars
Shells in a jar in the living room (to add to the summer feel)

I also wanted to try something else. I asked Mike and his cousin Ben to help me with this one. I got them to cut me a piece of log thin enough for a cute tray. This is what they gave me

I loved the cute shape and the knot in it. I took off all the bark on the side, stained it, and gave it a couple coats of varathane sealer, and voila
I love it! I have no idea how it will keep, Ben said the wood might start to split/crack etc. But for now I love it!
Isn't my new cute little mushroom adorable too?! I got that on Saturday. love.

Wish me luck for the week ahead!!!

My Summer Living Room

Well, I am really late adding summer touches to the living room. I don't want to say it, but there are only 4 more weeks of summer vacation and it is back to work. *sigh* It has been a great summer, I don't want it to end!!
I wanted to really focus on the mantel. I hadn't touched it at all  this summer. Here is a before picture.
Just a little clock! Remember back when I posted about the frames above the mantle here?  I loved that idea! But: a) frames are expensive (well, nice ones anyway and I would need a few) and b) I already put up the two shelves behind the couch for frames, so I thought it would be frame overload! I decided to leave the mirror, and add stuff to it. I layed out the things I wanted on it and took a picture so I remembered!
I knew I wanted it symmetrical. Then I went to town painting the frames. I left the black flower ones of course. And here it is now,

I found free graphics (mostly at the Graphics Fairy) And framed summer things. I have flowers, butterflies, a boat I mounted on burlap, shells and bees. I think it turned out pretty cute. I changed behind the chair too
And also moved the lamp from the side table over here
Changed the stuff of the table here
I think I am going to paint the table black, because the side tables and ottoman are black
Hung my new art (don't mind the mess on the floor I didn't clean up)
And made new summer floral pillows for the couch using this fabric
I have painted all the frames for that shelf, and scanned pictures from my family. I am still waiting on some pictures from Mike's family. We are doing old black and white family photos. I think it will look great!

Overall, I do think it feels more summer-ish. And very shortly I will have to change it all again for fall. But we won't think about that now!

I hope you all are having a great long weekend! It's a long weekend here in Canada anyway, I'm not sure about the US!!

My $6 art

Hey! I haven't posted in a few days because things have been a little busy around here! Last week I worked 3 days, went to the dentist twice (I had a toothache, which had to do with my wisdom teeth), got my car fixed, had a family lunch at grammas and dinner at Mike's parents twice! So, I wasn't really at home much!

Yesterday after I cleaned the house I had the whole day to myself to craft. I made some $6 art for above the tv. I knew I wasn't digging the wreath above the tv. That was only supposed to be there temporarily anyway.
(it would have cost more but I had all the other supplies from previous projects) I had book marked this idea from Thrifty Decor Chick last summer. I think she was one of the first blogs I found and fell in love with. So, all you need is canvas the size of your art (mine were $2 at the dollarstore), textured wallpaper (Mine was left over from the mantel) and paint.

It is so easy. Staple the wallpaper to the canvas
And then use paint or glaze (I used glaze) and rub it all over the canvas
Next, take a cloth and rub it around in a circular motion. I moved in a counter clockwise direction.
Then I put gold paint all over it, and did the same thing, rubbed it around in a circular motion. And that's it!
I couldn't get a good picture of it because of the gold paint! With the flash it was shiny, and it was too dark without it, but it looks good, I swear! :)

I do however, think it is too light, or gold! What do you think? So I am going to add some dark paint to them! I think they would look really cute framed too, or with a something on them. You could do anything to them, really! Cheap, easy and nice! (my favourite things!!)

I am linking this art up to the following parties found here
