Weekly Nursery Update

This week finished the list I had from last week!!! Here was the list
  1. painting the ceiling (just white)
  2. painting the walls ( light aqua)
  3. painting the floor ( thinking dark brown...the crib and accessories will be espresso and the carpet will be white. Thought that might look nice...
  4. paint the trim, window and door frame!
  5. screen the door
Early in the week I attempted to screen the door. It is not too bad but there is some hot glue on some of the screen..it kind of drives me bonkers..but Mike said it looks really good and no one will notice. I was glad to get it done!!

Mom came over on her day off  on Thursday and painted the nursery! Seriously, who has the best mom ever!? Oh...definitely me!!! I tried to help her as much as I could...I wasn't much help. I trimmed above the baseboards and window and door for her so she could almost just roll it on. I didn't get up on the ladder to trim the ceiling! After I was done that I painted all the baseboards, window and door frames white! It looks so nice and clean!!! The room looks amazing!!!
Mike and I were planning on painting the bedroom the night mom came out so we decided to paint the floor instead. I did the same for him, I trimmed around the edges so he could roll it on. It took 15 minutes!!! It went on a little purple at first. I was kind of freaking out...but dried brown! Thank goodness! It is called "Bitter Chocolate" by Behr. It looks amazing!! It needed another coat around the edges...so I just did a whole other coat on the weekend. Doesn't it look good?!
So here is my list now:

  1. painting the ceiling (just white)
  2. painting the walls ( light aqua)
  3. painting the floor ( thinking dark brown...the crib and accessories will be espresso and the carpet will be white. Thought that might look nice...
  4. paint the trim, window and door frame!
  5. screen the door
Yay! We are in awesome shape! The crib and dresser come this week so I'm thinking we could put them up right away if we wanted!!! I also want to build the espresso cube and maybe put that in there! And the rug as well!!! So here is my new list for now:

  1. put rug down
  2. build espresso cube
  3. put up crib and dresser
  4. hang blinds
  5. add material to the curtain panels to make them longer
  6. make some art for above the crib ( I have already made one, you will see it Wednesday! It turned out pretty good!)
After that, it is decorating time!!! So exciting!

My First Baby DIY : Pennant Banner

Yesterday I attempted my first baby DIY and I am in love! I decided to make a cute pennant. I found these fabrics at Walmart....I didn't find any I liked at Fabricland...
I used iron on interfacing (my favourite kind!) to make the flags a little more sturdy!
I then printed off a pennant template online and traced away!
I cut them out and sewed them all along each side
I attached them to some ribbon and sewed along the middle of the ribbon
and voila...I had a pretty pennant banner. I decided to make 2. I still have a zillion triangles left...I was thinking of making a birthday banner!!!
And just for fun here is my weekly photo....
24 weeks along!
Big belly right?!!!

I am happy with my first baby DIY and am excited to show you the next one! That will be next week though!

DIY Shadow Box?!

I was flipping through the Sears Catalogue and found this:
I thought it was pretty cute! I love the little clothespins!! I thought I would search Pinterest to see what I could find to inspire me to make my own. Here is what I found:

this one is not a DIY....

I definitely think I am going to make one. I have 2 available frames...from the hallway. Remember one broke and I only had 2 left? Well I think I will make one...do you think it matters that it is black?!
