The journey of a fake Mantel

Well, you have all seen my mantle transform, and take on many different looks. I was at it again today, this time with wallpaper!! Lets take a look back at the old mantel.

This is what it looked like when I got it

Then I painted the bricks.
I then painted it all white. I liked it the best like this, but thought it needed something else. So I bought a roll of textured wallpaper

Harrison enjoyed himself! Where ever I am he always seems to want to watch
I cut it to size and put it on the main panel

The detail is pretty! I had to give it a coat of white paint because it was a different colour then the mantel.
Then I added glaze.

(these were taken at night so they don't look the best.) It looks awesome!! Just what it needed! Now it is time to put all the Easter decorations out and dress up the new mantel! Hopefully sometime this week! Watch for tomorrows post on PAINT!

I am going to link this post to

Odds and Ends

I haven't posted in so long! I have been rather busy here, but haven't had the time to blog about it. I thought I would do a super fast post on the little things I have completed in the last little while.

#1: I made a little memo board on the inside of the cupboard.
I used cork placemats I bought at Zehrs.

Then glued it to the inside of the door

Perfect for holding recipes!
#2: I recovered two pillows for my wicker chairs.
kitchen. (same material as my apron!) and living room

I added a little bow to this one
#3: Do you have a cupboard like this?
bags bags bags! Anyway, I made a little cloth bag holder

#4: Oven mit covers. Look at my face. Can't you tell I hate my oven mits? With burn marks and all. I didn't want to throw them out, because they were still perfectly good!
I made a little cover

voila. Brand new!!
#5: remember this bird?

It was staring me in the face in the living room. I didn't like the brown colour. It seemed to blend in with the walls. So of course I painted it!!

White! Love it!!

So, this is what I have been doing. Stay tuned for some painting and wall paper???

Ooh laa laa

Since deciding not to go to my 2nd sewing course (drapes) I still have Gramma's $50. I sure put it to good use tonight. I bought all of this for $36!!! Well, before taxes!

Lets break it down
This guy was reg $19.99, on sale for $3!

This frame was originally $12.99 on for $3

I thought these were cute, with a paint job? They are jars. The lids come off.
small: orig $12.99, paid $3
Medium: orig: $19.99, paid $5
Large orig: $24.99, paid $7

I forgot to take a picture of this candle holder, so I cropped it...awful pic.
Anyway, This was originally $24.99 on for $5

These lovely mirrors were $24.99 each I got them for $2 a piece!! They are rather chipped but nothing I can't fix!!!  I have been watching these for months. (markdowns) The last I saw they were $7 each. I am cheap what can I say? Owell, I am glad I waited!!

So I spent $36 before taxes, and if they weren't on sale it would have cost $240.89 before taxes!! wahoo

I love all my finds. Thanks Gramma!!

1 easy mini makeover

This sewing thing is awesome. I am still learning and am not the best...but I can whip stuff up just like that! I have 2 of these chairs. Mom and dad let me borrow them? have them? I don't know...and they had these cushions

They were originally outside chairs but are in my house.
Anyway, I took some white burlap and sewed a cover...
It was so fast and easy! And I love them!!
Pillows are next so stay tuned!!

p.s There is a PD day tomorrow which means no work! Wahoo. I love 4 day weeks.
(Especially 2 of them in a row!)
