Valentine's Day Decor

Today while I was home I finished putting out the Valentine's Day stuff which was perfect because Domestic Fashionista is having a Valentine's Day Link up today!. I went a little crazy this year...a little more over the top then I usually go. Here is what I did last year:
Simple. I loved the jars with the candy in it
(but I am trying to be good and I knew I would eat it if it was there.)
Here is what I did this year:
What do you think?!
For the mantel, I used mini  heart clothes pins to pin heart doilies to a ribbon. I also added pictures of me and my soon to be hubby..because he is my Valentine!
I made a little wreath
and some new art.
(They are the same candlesticks as last year)
I added heart stickers to the plates on the wall, got the heart vase and the hearts coming out of it from the dollarstore.
I picked up the glitter roses at the dollarstore too. I put my giant hurricane on red plate, and put out the same scrabble frame from last year!
I also made a new pillow. So what do you think?!
It is very busy for me, and I can't stop looking at it all...but I think I like it!

It should be a wonderful Valentine's Day!!
Now go link up your amazing Valentine's Day Decor and Projects here!!

I will be linking my Valentine's Day decor to the following parties:
Hello all my blogging friends! I am posting in the middle of the day! Weird right?! They have closed all the schools here at our school board, have closed roads and everything. We got a lot of snow! Not as much as expected but the wind is crazy making huge drifts on the roads and white out conditions!! Anyway, I have a day off. I have to try to get to work on "No Bus Days", but when the schools are closed I get to stay put and stay safe!

I have cleaned up, hung some curtain rods, worked on my Valentine's Day Mantel (I will be posting pictures soon) and made a list of projects I want to complete. It has been a productive day so far and it isn't even lunch. I was cleaning the craft room and came across things I got thrifting, and at a silent action at school way before Christmas. Guess what my new favourite shape is!? hahahaha. I just realized it as I put everything out to take a picture of.

Apparently Square!!
I picked up the 3 square mirrors thrifting, as well as the small frame. Isn't it cute?!
Originially from Winners. Speaking of Winners I got the huge, heavy square mirror from Winners as well on clearance.

These others things I got at the Silent Auction
This tin hanging thingy for $1
And the square teaset for $2. I also got that gold mirror for $1 (I felt sad for it, there were no bids on it!) hahahah

Get ready for some makeovers!! And also for some Valentine's Day pictures!!

And don't forget to link your Valentine's Day Posts to Domestic Fashionista's Valentine's Day Link up party!

My First Attempt

Remember this?!

I bet you all guessed what I was going to do with it...CHALKBOARD!
I tried to take the easy way out. I tried to use chalkboard paper instead of paint.
I found this chalkboard paper at the dollarstore. It was a perfect fit. I thought I could stick it right onto the painting instead of on a piece of cardstock and over the painting. It didn't stick. Then instead of putting the cardstock over the painting, I tried gluing the paper on....and putting cardstock at the back to strengthen the canvas.
It was my first attempt.
I guess you will get the idea though...
I decided to leave the frame gold. I thought I would paint it white all along, but as it was leaning up against the cupboard I decided I loved it the way it was. Anyway...the paper didn't stick well, even with the glue. This is what happened:
I have learned my lesson. I will not try to rush anything ever again. It never turns out the way you want.
I will start again, do it right and use chalkboard paint!
Anyway, it was only my first attempt! xo
