Frugal Friday : Cardboard Bracelet

I originally saw this idea on pinterest with a paper towel roll. I wondered how it would be sturdy enough to be a bracelet so I passed on saving it to my boards. One day at school I was working in a classroom and needed some tape. The teacher handed me a roll but it was pretty close to empty. I used what was left and proceeded to put the empty roll in my pocket...without the teacher seeing of course...I didn't want her to think I was crazy! Anyway, I made a cute bracelet...and it cost zero dollars (I had the yarn on hand already)

I started by hot gluing the beginning of the yarn on the empty roll
....and just wrapped it all around...
and glued the end of the yarn to the inside of the bracelet.
 What do you think?!
do you know how hard it is to take a picture of a bracelet on yourself? hahahah
I love free, pretty things!!

Try it Tuesday : Parmesan Broccoli

I found this recipe on Pinterest...where else?! I think it will become a regular over here...it was soooo delish! And so easy to make!

Parmesan Broccoli

Preheat a baking sheet on the lower rack in a 450 oven. Blanch 1 head chopped broccoli in boiling water with salt and sliced garlic for 1 minute; drain. Toss with a splash of olive oil, a handful each of breadcrumbs and parmesan, salt and pepper. Place on the hot baking sheet and top with more cheese and breadcrumbs; roast until golden, 15 minutes.

The recipe originally came from food network.com. I am so glad Pinterest exists! Otherwise I would probably  never come across this! Try it! You can thank me later!

Make it Monday : Hair Combs

This is an easy craft and one that you can customize to your wardrobe!
I found the tutorial at P.S. I made this..

Here is what you need:
embroidery floss, fabric, and hair combs (I tried ribbon as well, but it didn't work so well!)
I got 6 hair combs for a dollar at the dollar store
You just tie your fabric or floss onto the comb and wrap it around the entire thing.
once you get to the end, just tie a knot and cut off the excess.
I liked the look of the embroidery floss the best
Here are  my finished products:
And here is my beautiful sister as my hair model.

Cute and easy!

Frugal Friday : Tin Cans

Today is my first post on my frugal ways. This project ended up being a new favourite of mine!! All you need are tin cans...and birch bark! (and glue of course) I found this bark on a tree that had fallen over in November of last year...I was glad I found it! I would never take it off a live tree, and thought I could do something with it for sure!
I just ripped the first layer off the bark

and wrapped it around the can. Then glued into place
I didn't want to waste the rest of the bark, of course...so I decided to make some cute tags!

With the rest of bark I have in the shed, I thought tags like this would be cute!
I love how they turned out!

Thursday's Tips and Tricks : Mascara

I found this on Pinterest and am eager to try it...

MAKE MASCARA LAST 3X LONGER!! A typical mascara dries out before half of it is used. When your favorite mascara starts getting dry, add 4-5 drops of saline solution or eyedrops to the bottle. Insert your wand and stir and TA-DA!! Fresh mascara! This can be repeated 2 or 3 times until all you mascara is gone.

I wonder if this works...either way I am going to try it!!!
