Valentine Day Presents!

I love ALL occasions. I'm sure you all know this about me already. I love to celebrate for the kids, and make it fun! Fun food, decor and maybe a few presents too!! I knew I would be busy with a new baby at the beginning of February so I ordered Adalyn and Wyatt's Valentines gifts this month! (Not knowing if Wyatt was a girl or boy of course!) I ordered everything from Etsy, except the books which I got off Amazon!

Here is a look at Wyatt's Valentine's Day Gifts:

1- I got this cute "love bug" car. I thought it was sweet. Also made in Canada which is a bonus!
2- I had to get a slouchy beanie for the new babe! I got black because it is gender neutral! Also made in Canada!
3- It was hard to find leg warmers that would work for a girl or a boy! I think these are the perfect fit though! These also came from Canada!
4- I had to get the baby a "First holiday book".  I got one for Adalyn each holiday and wrote a special message inside! Wyatt will get a book each holiday as well!
5- I also had to get this cute teether/rattle. Also made in Canada! I could have personalized it but didn't know if we were having a girl or boy so I stuck with "LOVE"

1- I had to get Addy Pete the Cat Valentine's Day book! She loves Pete and we have like six already!
2- I totally could have made this button snake myself but didn't think I would have the time! I love the hearts. I think Adalyn will like it too!
3- I got Addy a cute little personalized bracelet! Aren't they sweet?!
4- I also got her an "I Spy" bag. I'm not sure if she will actually look for the items yet, but we will see!

I will also get her some little treat as well...you can't NOT get chocolate on Valentine's Day!

Looking forward to showing you our decorations, crafts and baking we are planning on doing! I just love the holidays!!

Valentine's Day Decor: Around the house

I don't decorate too much around the house for Valentine's day but I thought I would show you what I did this year!

In the kitchen I put out the pink place mats and hang heart garlands
 I decorated Addy's little eating area...so cute!
 I think the mantle looked pretty similar last year...
 Look at my babe last Valentine's Day! SO little! That hat still fits by the way!!
We moved the old pie safe into the living room so we could put Addy's table in the kitchen!!


And that's it! I don't get super crazy like at Christmas! But it is just enough!! Adalyn loves all the glitter and hearts!!

Valentine's Day Decor: Playroom Edition

Here are a few pictures of the Valentine's Day decor in the playroom!

 I got all of the decorations at the dollar store and Target!
 This little bag holds her pretty Valentine's Day bracelets and necklaces!

 Have I showed you the tent my sister and her husband got Addy?! Cute right?!
 The love pillow and carpet were cute, I thought!
 Our Valentine's Day books...hardly any board books! She can only read these ones with Mama!

 So I took her year of friends down and am going to post her art on this board! I also painted the chalkboard with magnetic paint and still have yet to paint the chalkboard over top..she loves the magnets!

So there you go! She loves all the pretty decorations and I have fun decorating too! Holidays are so much more fun with kiddies!!

Valentine's Day Crafts and Sensory Play!!

Here are some of the activities we have been up to around here:

Valentine's Day discovery/sensory bin. I put flower petals, foam hearts, little heart containers and bigger foam hearts in her bin. She loved it! All of these items were from the dollar store.


Adalyn made Valentines! I cut out hearts from construction paper and let her use her markers, crayons and stickers to make the most adorable Valentines!! I love how they turned out!

I used a silicone muffin tin to put her stamps, markers, and stickers in. She loved it. Every time she drew with the marker she said "ooooh" and was amazed.


We have coloured in her Valentine's Day colouring book (I told you the hat still fits!)

We made contact paper hearts
  And we have had water play!!
I froze big hearts with pink food colouring and little hearts with red food colouring. I also added the heart containers from the first activity we did! She loved this as well. Probably the most! 

I would still like to have some rice play! I am going to try to colour rice and see how it turns out! We will see! I am loving all of these holidays! I love finding and trying different activities Addy would like to do!

A visit from Cupid...

Cupid came to our house last week to drop off a gift for Adalyn! He dropped off a bunch of Valentine's stuff she can use for the month before Valentine's Day!!

 

It is getting easier and easier getting her things because she is not much of a baby anymore! I put a balloon, place mat, sippy cup, bowls, plate, Valentines ducks, a book, stickers, and a bunch of other little stuff she can play with!

 The balloon was the first thing she grabbed! she put it right in the air and said "balloon" and started twirling in circles! It was super cute to watch!

She also loved the cup!There were more age appropriate ones but she has been obsessed with my big cup like that. She always wants to drink out of it..so I thought why not!! It isn't leak proof though...

After she went through everything, she wanted to test it out! (of course) She she had a little snack!


I am excited to show you some of the stuff we have been up to around here for the upcoming holiday! We have been having lots of fun!!

Our Valentine's Day! A Recap!

Our Valentine's day was great! It was busy, but great!
It all started off with heart shaped pancakes
Then we made and iced cupcakes
Painted some heart shaped nails (the thumbs at least...the rest were plain gold!)
Then we visited Adalyn's friend (who was in the picture with her with the Valentine's Day onesies!) After that fun visit we visited Gramma M. (who gave Adalyn a sweet gift)

We came home and gave Adalyn her gift from us
 
 She is loving books right now!

We exchanged our gifts as well. Do you see the jar of kisses?! Michael's "STACHE" hahahahahaha
I made a yummy drink called a  Sailor Sweetheart found HERE
Then Gramma P came over for a visit to give Adalyn a sweet gift! (she is very spoiled)
We also got Aunt Shan's card in the mail and one from Aunt Jaclyn too! 
Then made pizza for dinner and cut out the pepperoni for Mike's pizza into hearts! (If you can see them!)
It was a great day! It was very fun for Adalyn's first Valentine's Day! She was very tired and went to bed a little early. I think she is going to sleep well tonight!

DIY Valentine's Day Outfit!

Remember the outfit that I told you I made for my monkey!? Well here it is!!! My friend Amanda and her baby boy came over and we made some super cute onesies for the babes!
Here is the table and all the supplies!
I used the same freezer paper stencil technique as the Christmas onesies I made!! Here is mine:
I cut a heart out of the paper and used stick on letters in the middle. Then just painted over the letters! I used pink and a red glitter on top!
Here is Amanda's! She cut the tie out of the paper and ironed on little hearts inside and painted over top. She made the suspenders with masking tape and free handed the buckles! So cute! I think they turned out really well!
 And here are our sweet babes in them!!!
You can't get much cuter then that!!!
I had all the supplies already to make these which is awesome!

I also made a skirt for Adalyn out of tulle! I found the tutorial at MAKE IT AND LOVE IT!
She explains it perfectly and it has pictures as well. Here is the finished product and my sweet pea in it!
The tulle was $2.50 a meter so the total skirt cost was $5.00. I already had the elastic from a previous project! Therefore Adalyn's entire Valentine's Day outfit cost $5.00!! I love the price and had fun making it too! I will post Adalyn's Valentine's Day card she sent out to her family and friends soon!

I also put together a little Valentine's Day basket for my favourite monkey!

I bought the doll at Bonnie Togs, the board book from Chapters and the Soothies from Walmart. That is all that I was going to put in her basket but found the Clifford book at Shoppers Drug Mart...as well as the toys..they were on sale for very cheap so I grabbed them too! 

I love buying books! I will probably buy her a new book every holiday for a long time! (and of course write
it in!!!!) It will be fun to read all the seasonal books each year with her!

I also ended up buying her this adorable Valentine's Day beanie from the Etsy Shop HERE
 
She looks adorable in it!

I think it is going to be an awesome Valentine's Day!

Pottery Barn Knock Off....Valentine's Day Edition

I was browsing Pottery Barn Kids and came across this adorable Valentine Day Envelope for the back of a chair.
I added it to my cart...just to see how much it came up to. It was on sale at the time! With taxes, shipping embroidery and everything else it came to $39 something. I definitely thought I would be able to make this for cheaper and I did! Here is what I did!

I got this felt at Fabricland. I got half a meter for $6.00. They didn't have any white so I got pink. It was very easy to make!

I sewed up the sides to make a pocket. I was originally going to cut out the triangle part separately but it was the perfect amount of felt so it is all attached and one piece! I  used my zig zag scissors to make a rough edge. I cut out a heart made of red felt that I had leftover from the heart mobile (that I will show you later!)
I then embroidered around the entire envelope and the heart. I also added the letter "A" and stitched that up as well.
I also added some strips of felt with velcro to attach to the kitchen chairs!

What do you think?! I love it! And even though she might not get a lot of Valentine's Day Cards this year...she will have this for many years to come! I love how it turned out! And $6.00 is WAY cheaper then $39!

Adalyn's Valentine's Day "Wish List"

The holidays are so much  more fun with a baby! I always loved all the holidays and decorated the house for most of them...but to have a baby and start traditions is so much fun! (Not to mention dressing them up and having photo shoots!)

Sometimes I wish I had lots of money. I would be buying Adalyn lots of amazing Valentine's Day clothing and accessories!! Here is a rough idea of what I would want to buy her...let's call it my wishlist!

If you know me at all you know I am thrifty!!! Therefore I made Adalyn's Valentine's day outfit!!! I had a friend over and we made some adorable onesies! I also later made a cute skirt. I will be posting it soon...but you should know it turned out really cute and for a fraction of one of the outfits above! I love when that happens!!

I think I can make that happen again! Look how cute this Valentine's Day envelope from Pottery Barn Kids is!! I am going to try to make it for less money! I will let you know how it goes!
Anyway, I just thought I would share my wish list with you!
