Cute Summer Banner (And Mantel)

I never showed you guys my super easy summer banner (and mantel)
Just grab some fabric, trace out some triangles and stencil letters on!
Then pin to a ribbon, and sew right across!
Easy! and cute!
Here's the rest of the mantel
 starfish, driftwood, rocks, sand...
(Those are secretly the candle holders from last years BBQ!)

Did you notice all the candles?! It is so lovely at night...

I love candles, and summer! 1 more month left....*sigh*
it has gone wayyyy too fast!

I might be crazy....

....Crazy for starting this project...what do you think?

I was going to choose white, but thought it might be too harsh. I went with a metallic silver instead for a softer look. What do you think? Should I keep going?

I am following the tutorial  found HERE, but instead of doing two lines, I only did one. (I do not have a steady hand, so I thought if I just painted in the lines it might be better!)

I wonder how long this will take me...hahaha
I guess we will see!

A really easy project....

Do you remember this super cute banner from the shower?
Well, I said I was going to put it in the craft room, which I am...but also decided to put it somewhere else...

I added vinyl stickers to the banner to spell out "LOVE" and put it on our headboard! If you remember the headboard used to have a star on it..
I just stuck the sticker on, and attached it through the trim of the headboard. SUPER EASY!

And what did I do with the star? Here is it.
I put it there because there was already a hole in exactly that spot..and I had a nail upstairs. But now I'm thinking to move it below the chalkboard where the "rise and shine" sign is...and then put that sign on the front of the bedroom door. What do you think?

Either way, I love my new banner. Thanks Tori! You did most of the work! hahah

A Wedding Shower

Saturday afternoon my Aunt had a wedding shower for me! It was lovely! There were cute banners, flowers, Ball jars, roses, teacups, cute coloured sandwiches and of course cake!
It was very hot, but at least it wasn't raining and we could be outside! There were games and lots of pictures taken!
Here is my Aunt Li, who threw the party! (Look at the super cute banner behind her) Tori made them with fabric and lace and I totally stole them to put them in my craft room! hahahah
Yummy carrot cake
Flowers, candles and jars...those are my wedding flowers by the way...but they will be white and  large.
cute mini roses wrapped in the fabric
And here is what I looked like after I opened all the gifts! The apron says "It's all about me" hahah
And here is my lovely wedding party : my sister (maid of honour), cousin (bridesmaid), me (an awful picture) my friend (bridesmaid)
It was a great day! Thanks so much Aunt Liana! (and Tori and Kayla for helping tooooo)
I  love you guys! oxo

New Bedroom Colour..

Remember back in April when I told you I painted my room a different colour? Well, I never ended up showing you guys! My plan was to re-do the whole room, get all new antique type things and change it up. Then I thought about how silly that was when I am saving for a wedding and everything, so I used what I already had and changed it up just a little. If you remember, my room was all white before.
(which I did like, but really wanted to change it up and thought paint would be the best way to do so)
And now here is the after
What do you think? It might not seem very drastic, but it is for me! My entire house is beige! hahahah. I love the colour, and I love the way it makes the white details pop!! Really the only thing I added was the chalkboard on the wall, and a mirror on the other side of the window.
The boys really like it...hah
One thing I have also realized after all these pictures is that I need some better bedding. I can never get the duvet cover to look right! I don't know if the duvet cover is too big, but it always looks sloppy! So that is my next purchase!

Happy Canada Day! (A Picture Post)

Yesterday was Canada's Birthday (and my first day off from work for the summer!) It was a great day. I went for a walk/jog with my cousin/bridesmaid Tori...we went to the park where our bootcamp is, and where we are getting married! I did 6min runs with 1 min recovery in between..I was very proud of myself! Then I cleaned the house, watered the garden and made some cupcakes for dessert (We went to Mike's fams!) Here's how they turned out:
I found the cute flags here.
I don't have any fancy paper punchers so I cut them by hand! hahah. I added almond extract in the icing but it tasted like cherry for some reason? Anyway, I don't think I will add it again to icing..maybe to the mix or something!

We had a yummy dinner and went out for fireworks (it's my new favourite tradition!) Here are some pics:

It was a great night! (as always)
Happy Birthday Canada!
