Baby DIY #7 : Cute Fabric Drawers

Remember when I showed you the fabric drawers in the nursery?!

I thought they were a little plain! I wanted to add something to them...numbers came to mind.

  1. I found some number templates on line and printed them out
  2. I ironed on some interfacing to make the fabric more sturdy. (I love that iron on interfacing!)
  3.  I traced the numbers on my fabric(backwards of course) This is the same fabric I used for the curtains and the hoops!
  4.  I then sewed along the edges.
  5.  I attached them to the fabric drawers with a bit of hot glue
What do you think?! I am in love. The drawers are now not so plain and boring, and the numbers add a cute touch I think!

Gallery Wall

Here is a sneak peek of the gallery wall I am working on in the hall.
(don't mind the lovely carpet..we still don't know what we are going to do with that.....)

I have wanted to do this for about 3 years, and have bought frames here and there whenever I had a little extra money which was nice...I didn't have to dish out a lot of money at one time to make this. Most of these frames are from Walmart.

I will have to show you when it is all said and done. I can't wait to fill the frames! I still have yet to print out any wedding pictures....and it is almost a year later....Now I have the perfect chance!

The Plan for Fall...2012

So, it is September. I still can't believe it. September means back to work for me but it also means a change in season. It changes to my FAVOURITE season.....FALL. I love fall. I love the cool weather, the smells, all the pumpkin baking, Thanksgiving, decorating outside and inside and so on. Mike and I tend to do a lot together in the fall as well, maybe that is why I love it so much. We also got engaged and married in the fall! (We are coming up on a year! Can you believe it!?)

Here is my fall mantel from last year:
I am not sure if I want to change it up completely or just change a few things. I guess it will depend on my energy level!  Here are a few things I found on Pinterest that I want to attempt this fall:
I thought this wreath on the table was pretty cute. I think I can recreate that!
some sort of a leaf pillow would look nice in the living room!
I thought this would be cute if I made a leaf banner. The leaves are made of newspaper

I found this free printable that I think would look nice on the mantel

I also found this cute fall printable bucket list. I think I am going to print it off. There are a few on there I know we wouldn't do (like go to a football game) but we do most of these things every fall! :)
I would also like to try to make these yummy things:

And I will have to make these acorn doughnut holes again...they were a hit last fall! (and super easy)

I am definitely looking forward to fall! I am just curious how many of these things I will do/make since I will be pretty pregnant...I guess we will see!    :)

Baby DIY #6 : Some Cute Hoops

Here is a quick picture of the cute hoops I made for above the crib!!

They are just normal embroidery hoops, with fabric in them. Yet again another idea found on Pinterest!!!
What do you think?!

A Few Things I have Bought...

Here are a few things I recently got for the baby/nursery

1. A feeding pillow at Walmart
2. A cute pendant light at Ikea
3. Cute wooden blocks (mostly to spell out the babies name) Walmart
4. An Owl Change pad cover at Babies R Us
5. White picture ledges (for frames and books) Ikea

I am having so much fun shopping for the baby and decorating the nursery. It is almost done and ready for the big reveal. There are a few things that need to be hung and I am am waiting on a piece of art from a special "Auntie" :) Once everything is done I will definitely post pictures of the nursery. It makes me smile every time I walk by the room! :)
