Happy Fall

I love fall for many reasons.

Apple picking (then apple baking), Pumpkin picking (then pumpkin carving), Thanksgiving (in 2 weeks), Walking in Menora Park and looking at all the beautiful leaves, Going to the badlands (well we did that last year for the first time, but I would like to go again), decorating the house inside and out! I like decorating outside a little more though. With all the cornstalks, hay, indian corn, mums etc. I love breathing in the cool crisp air and watching the leaves fall from the trees. I just love everything about fall. (and have made a check list on the chalkboard I painted last week to make sure we do all of them!)

Happy Fall.

FALL

Well, I hate this "I can only blog on the weekend" thing. I am so busy during the week it is crazy! I am all over the place and don't have much time to sit and relax (aka craft!) This week I didn't craft at all. I have so many projects on the go, and none of them are getting done. I had a few hours today after I cleaned the house to sit down and decide what I should do.

This week when I went to visit dad, we went to IGA and he bought me a fall bouquet. I new exactly what I was going to do with it! I got a tin can, with some foam in the bottom and shoved the wheat in it. I wrapped the can with burlap and tied a little string around it. I love it!

I need stuff for fall! I got my fall/halloween bins out and most of it was for halloween! Anyway, next I found these at the dollar store and fell in love.

I got some dowels, and foam balls like so...

And the finished product is

This.
Do you think they need a bow or something? hmm
While I had the moss out I decided to make this sign as well

Michael said it looked like a kid from our class made it.

And I had one more project I wanted to complete. "FALL" in picture frames. I originally saw it Here. I had an idea to change it up a little so I got some sticks and went to town. I took the glass out of the frames and used the sticks to spell "FALL"

I very much disliked this. hahahahahahah It looked like a kid made it! haha I ended up using only one piece of the scrapbook paper ( I bought 2) , so I decided to try again, (with nice black letters!)

Much better! I don't know what I was thinking with the sticks!

I hope everyone had a nice relaxing weekend!

Two Tiny Tables

Well last week at work Judy (an EA I work with) pulled up beside me in the parking lot and asked if I wanted 2 of these tables:

(She said she was just going to throw them out) Of course I said yes! I couldn't resist! After contemplating painting them black, white or painting the top and staining the bottom, I picked black. So I painted them and went to bed. The next morning I was all ready to put them in the living room and take some pictures but when I went to go get them there were little paw prints all over them! HAZEL! hahaha. So I re-painted the tops and put them in the living room

I am planning on getting lamps for them! Anyway, I thought they looked pretty good but I thought I should get some sandpaper and sand the edges.

I have never done this before but I think they turned out pretty good.

Now they sit on either side of my really embarrassing couch. There is a reason you havent seen the entire living room! hahahah (We are planning on getting new furniture pretty soon. It is either get rid of Hazel or get her de-clawed. She has destroyed the two couches we have. So getting her declawed wins even though I think it is kind of sad and cruel.)

Anyway! What do you think?! Thanks again Judy! I love them!

Some Small Transformations

Well, since being back at work I don't have a lot of time to transform my thrift store finds. I also have a part time job so I have to work in little blocks of time, whenever I can. This week was pretty productive though! I completed 2 tiny things, and also a small furniture makeover. I will save that for another post though!

So,  last week while thrifting with Aries I found this basket and knew Hazel would love it as her new bed.

I got a little paint, and a baby blanket from the dollarstore and now it is the cutest little cat bed!

And the best part is that she actually sleeps in it! (It doesnt look like it from this next picture though. She doesnt look too impressed because I moved her there myself for the picture. hahahaha)

She is such a midge! (for a 2 year old cat!) But I am glad she likes it!

The other thing I found was this:

It screamed chalkboard to me right away! So that is what I did!

I don't know where to put it, but I love it.

Fall wreath and other odds and ends

I had a great weekend! Saturday Aries and I went thrifting! Lets just say we are bad influences on eachother and spent waaaaaaaay too much money! But it was all worth it! I found some great things and can't wait to transform them! We also went to the dollarstore and Michael's (My first time there!) Now that place could be dangerous! hahahahah. Anyway I picked up some stuff to make a fall wreath. (4 from dollarstore with the acorns and the 4 wheat ones from Michael's and they were 50% off)

I put it all together and made this. I think however, it needs something more. It looks a little empty.

I have been busy crafting through the week as well but haven't had a chance to post anything new. Let's see.

Here is my $2.99 stool very orange. with gold glitter in it! hahahahah

I wrapped it in burlap and spray painted the legs. love!

I got this beauty for .99! As well as this:

Spray painted them black and white....

love! (I also love the beautiful picture Mike's sister painted of our house)

I had this guy sitting in my living room and spray painted it as well....

And I found this at the dollarstore and thought of Ben right away. hahahah So I painted over that, and stenciled his name on it, and now it sits above his bed.

I am very happy with all the transformations and have more stuff to work on this week.
I hope everyone had a nice, relaxing weekend!

Ben's new friend

Well I just took Ben for a walk on this lovely, sunny day. For some reason I always bring my camera. Just incase I see some beautiful flowers, ducks etc. There is a lot of wild life behind our house. Well I am glad I brought it today, because Ben found a friend

A turtle!

This guy had spikes on his tail and his shell. I had never really seen a turtle up close. It was pretty neat. And of course Ben was very curious. It was fun to see!

My favourite transformation!

Well, I have painted a lot of things but today I painted my new favourite thing in our house. When we moved in everything was really dated. Lots of floral wallpaper, orange carpet etc. Mike and I have slowly worked room by room to update certain things. The living room is my favourite room in the house which is good because we spend most of the time there! There was one thing though, that just didnt fit. The light.

Yikes. Everything about it made it cringe. But I never changed it. Until today! Last night I was at Mike's parents and was looking through a House and Home (I think) and in one of the ads they had a beautiful black chandelier and I was like, I am going to do that! Alot of people have painted their lights in their blogs and it really seemed to update it! So I went for it, took off all the crystals, soaked them and went to town

Oh it looked better already! Mike didn't like the crystals and didn't think I should put them back on. I thought I should put at least a few back on! I am glad I did. I didnt put them all on just basically on the bottom row!
I love it! It looks like a completly new light and doesnt seem to stick out as much. I think it fits perfectly in the room!

Screen door

Well Here is a picture of my porch from this summer. The only thing I hated was the whitewhitewhite screen door. It just didnt seem to fit. I seemed to pop right out, and it was chipped and in bad shape. I wasnt really working this summer so I didnt want to put the money out for a new door, so I decided to paint it! I was stuck between brown and black, and chose brown. Brown is the main colour all around the house. We have brown eavestrough awning, some trim etc. The main door is brown also. I didnt know how I would feel about that either, because they wouldnt be the same brown, but I went for it anyway! :)

I taped and put newspaper over the glass and sprayed away!

I took the paper and tape off and realized some of the paper wasnt stuck completly down and I had paint spray alllllllll overrr the glass! ahhh. I was freaking out because I couldnt scrape it off and told Michael we needed to buy a new door because I wrecked the other one. I decided to check google and see if there were any home remedies for my problem. There were many but I didnt have them all on hand. So I tried one of the last ones, nail polish remover! And it WORKED! Everyone should keep that in mind! It came off soo easily! (I am still learning with the whole spray paint thing obviously.)

I am happy with the outcome! It looks like a while new door! Now I am thinking however I should have painted it black. So this just might be the primer for the new black paint! hahahahahahha While I was waiting for that to dry I decided to paint something else on the main door.

I was going to use white, but I thought that might stand out too much. I went with a nice gold colour. I love it, except for the "o" I think it is too curly or something. hahahahah Everyone in blogland seems to be painting their house number on their door which I love, but we dont have one. We have an emergency number because we are out in the country and I thought having 6 numbers across the door might look a little silly.I love this just as much though.

Dry Erase Boards

Well, I havent posted in a while because I have been super busy! I went back to work for starters and just havent been at home much! I have been working at my part time job, got the car fixed yesterday ($700.75 ) Got together with family...busybusybusy and no time to thrift or craft!

I did however make gifts for km and ts, before they went back to school! I made dry erase boards for their doors!

I used frames, pretty paper for in the frame, and wood bow details. I think they turned out pretty good!

Girls: I am going to miss you like crazy, but don't worry! we will get together! (well, we better!)
Also after I get off my butt here, I plan on finishing the painting of the screen door. I ran out of paint monday I think, and haven't got around to finishing! hahahah So hopefully that will get done today. Oh, so many things to do................Glad it's a long weekend!
