Give Thanks.

Well I am all finished my first fall/thanksgiving project of the season. I was looking around Zehrs grocery store and found these blocks

I thought they were pretty cute! Then I saw the price... $9.99!! I thought to myself.."I can definitely make that myself!" And I did! (well I needed some help from Mike, to cut the wood and stuff! :) Thanks babe! Here is the finished project

I am happy with the outcome! I think it looks pretty good! You can also see the giant spoon I got the other day! :)

I also made something else this weekend. I found this picture at the thrift store for $1

I really liked the frame, and how odd of a shape it was. So I spray painted it and made this

I think it looks pretty good, what do you think?

I have also been working on my first fall/Thanksgiving project! I know it's early! ha. It involves wood and paint.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend! :)

New Mantle.

Well I was looking through my inspiration book and decided I wanted to change up my fake mantle. Yes, fake. hahahah. This is what it looked like when my friend gave it to me

and look at the wallpaper! haha you should have seen my house. I will have to post before and afters at some point in time. Lots and lots of wallpaper! hahahaha Anyway, I painted it up and lived with it this way for 2 years

And then I decided, it needed to be painted! hahaha so white (of course) was the colour I chose. I am obsessed with everything white at the moment! hahah so here it was all painted

I put all the stuff back and I love it! I really do want to change what is on the mantle, maybe leaning the mirror on it, instead of on the wall...but for now, it looks good to me.

Yesterday was the shopping trip, which wasnt as successful as I thought it would be. I picked up a few little things, but nothing major! Today however, I found this beautiful coatrack for $5!!!

Love it! I have wanted one forever to go by the front door! I was actually going to buy one yesterday for $10 it was metal and lame, and I was going to paint it. I am so glad I didnt get it, because I love this!!!

I also picked up a huge spoon, for the wall in the kitchen, that bow, a few decorating books, some ribbon and a really cool frame I am going to paint! It was a great day, and it was just in my hometown, and not an hour away! I love when that happens!

3 posts today?!

Well I just thought I would let everyone know that I am heading out tomorrow with my sister/bestie....to go on an hour long road trip to THRIFT! I am majorly excited. K is the queen of thrifting, and has been for years! (even when I thought it was lame, and everything was dirty) remember that one K? hahahh Now look at me! I mostly just get stuff for the house, but the last time we went I got a skirt, sweater and flannel shirt! And they were so cheap! (I may never go shopping in a mall again!)

love you sister.

Oh p.s!
Well I was considering spray painting the screen door a darker colour (I think it just sticks out too much) I really wanted one of those really old screen doors but they are too much money (right now anyway) I was asking the lovely lady at Frugal Decorating and she said I should go for it! And of course that is the push I needed! So....Thursday's project? door door door! Thanks Carolyn! :)

New Shelf!

Well I think the new shelf is to my liking. It took a while to find the right stuff to put there (Especially since a lot of it wasn't finished yet) It was just hard to picture what should go there! But I finally decided to go with this:

#1- Was the frame I got on clearance from Winners $3

I painted it white and added a silhouette of a flower.

#2- The frame I bought the other day thrifting .$.99

I painted it black and added a tree silhouette. Love!

#3- White plastic dollarstore plate with a stamp in the middle

I think it turned out great! I love the texture from the paint

#4 The foam balls I made yesterday in a jar!

And #5 I'm sure you see the window I painted and fell in love with here

Well, I decided to take the backing off, and I am much happier with final outcome. It didn't look right, so I just ripped it off! ahhaha

I already had the other frame from a long time ago, it was already painted so I added a bird silhouette, and I painted the letter A black, and added it to the shelf.

What do you think?! I think I love it.

Tuesday Morning Love

Well let me start by saying that my crazy blogging each and every day will soon come to an end! The end of summer means back to work...so I wont have days off to get creative! I will have evenings and weekends which equals less posts! I am ok with it though!

Yesterday afternoon was a good day! I painted and hung a shelf. ( you will see it as soon as I organize everything on it!)

I finally finished this:

I painted this dollar store plate and attached a mirror candle base and now it looks like this (all for $3.00):

Don't worry! I have since cleaned up those finger prints! hahahaha

I painted this

And now it is used for this:

I also made 3 of these:

All with stuff from the dollar store: foam balls, hot glue and twine! I got the idea from Dollar Store Crafts! I think they look great! So I decided to stick them in here:

This was the vase I bought at the dollarstore to wrap in twine! I am glad I didn't because I like how they look! They will be on my new shelf! I just have to paint some frames and get some prints! and I am all set! I will keep you posted!

FALL!

Well, I am getting really excited to decorate for fall! It is sad to say, because summer is not over yet! We have had such an awful summer it has felt like fall most of it anyway! Fall means:

decorating the house!

(with hay! My favourite, Ben!)

apple picking

pumpkin picking!

and carving!

We have corn in the garden this year, so we will have that around the house, and hay, mums, pumpkins...it will look great! I will definetly take pictures!

Now I just have to decide how early I can decorate! hahaha

ThriftThriftThrift!

Well here are my 4 thrift finds from yesterday:

candle holder...What do you think?! Should I paint it white, or black?

This apple/pumpkin

I'm thinking a pumpkin!

And these 2 frames!

I don't know what I will do with them yet, but there is plenty of wall space in my house to hang them!

I don't have time to make anything today, it is the big BBQ at our house tonight. The rain has held off so far, hope it stays this way so we can have a bonfire! I still have so much to do, yet I am on here blogging!

Old Windows.

Well I went thrifting today after work, and I got 4 things. Nothing too exciting! But all four things were less than $4.00! hahahaha There is not much here for thrifting though, I am going to have to take a trip down to a way bigger city!

I came right home and started working on the table I was talking about painting yesterday!

Here was the before:

The top was pretty rough. I tried sanding it, but the lines were really deep. So I decided to do this instead:

I just glued an extra placemat on top, and I love it. It is not a big drastic change, but I think it looks pretty good. I also painted it brown! Not bad at all.

And my other project today was....

This old window!

There were two of them in mom and dads garage sale and I scooped them up before they sold. Ma and Pa tried sanding and stipping them but they were in pretty bad shape and that is as far as they got. So of course, I had to paint over all their hard work...added a little bit of excitment...and BAM!

I love it! I think it looks great! I dont know where to hang it yet, but I will post where I decided to put it when it is up!

Don't you just love the feeling you get when you make something you love?!

A Quiet Thursday Morning...

Well I have decided I need to get my hands on a few things!

First off:

1. chalkboard paint! It seems to be really big right now!
2. white or off white paint. I have been painting everything in my house in shades of brown...dark brown being my new main colour. However, there are a lot of projects where they use white, and I think it looks crisp and fresh!
3. A few old pieces of furniture! I want to make the amazing transformation from blah to fab!
4. I need to start keeping my tin cans! Mike and I rarely eat anything from cans, but I think I will ask my family to keep some, because there are so many things you can do!
5. Some old books! Like real old! I think they look great stacked up!
6. Frames frames frames! I love frame walls and even ones without pictures in them!
7. And finally I need a spot to CREATE! I do have an empty room in the house, but it might be used for something else in the future *cough, laundry room, cough* I hope so anyway!

I did make this vase yesterday:

I think it looks really nice. I got the inspiration Thrifty Decor Chick (again!) Thrifty Decor Chick was the first blog I came across and fell in love with a lot of the projects she made!

Voila! Not too bad eh?!

Well I must go. I have an old folding table that needs some attention! I am still unsure as to what I am going to do, but paint will definitely be involved! lovelovelove!

FunFunFun!

Well I am a little late for making a summertime wreath for the door! We are having a bonfire bbq this weekend so I thought I should re-paint the door and while it was drying I realized it needed something! I always have a fall wreath or christmas stuff on the door but I had nothing for summer...so I grabbed my $1 wreath from a garage sale, I thought that would be a good base (because foam rings are no where to be found in my town)

and headed to the dollarstore! There were a lot of tacky flowers that were awful...then I found some greenery and fell in love! I picked 3 kinds and grabbed 5 bunches! I am pretty happy with the result!

I also had this candle and thought it looked pretty boring! ( Am I right?)

I was thinking of ways I could jazz it up a little, then I remembered a post from Thrifty Decor Chick HERE!

I went to my craft box and found ribbon I had bought on sale! So...here is the finished project:

I am ok with the end result, I should have used wider ribbon! I think it is definietly an improvment though!

Well I have the rest of the day off so I am going to craft some more and see what else I can come up with!

Blogging My Life Away!

Well, I did it! I got my very own blog! I have been reading many blogs and getting great craft ideas, recipes and cheap d.i.y projects! (my favourite) I thought I should get a blog too, and share some of my ideas, and have an area to post the projects I have created as well!

Plain and simple : I am cheap. I am trying to save as much as I can for the future, so I am trying to save a few bucks here and there, and to not spend like crazy! I love to craft and get creative so I thought I should be making my own accessories for the house! Lately my creative juices have been flowing, and I am spending a lot of time at thrift stores, dollarstores, and liquidation stores! (and I have been finding a lot of great stuff too!) Here have been a few of my finds!

This vase was .79 cents! What a little paint can do! ( and dollarstore sticks!) = LOVE

I found this sign for $2.99 and thought I could do something with it! Now there is a nice sign on the bathroom door!

I changed this dollarstore birdhouse into a nice sign for my Herb garden! Paint paint paint!

I added a little scrapbook paper, and paint and voila! love!

Same with a dollarstore tray!

Now this I found on the Dollarstore Crafts website and fell in love!
http://dollarstorecrafts.com/2009/05/necklace-holder/

Here is my version!
I think it turned out really well! lovelovelove!

I have so much more stuff I have still to work on, so there will be plenty more posts! Craft your day away!
